Plano, Texas – The City of Plano and the Plano Independent School District Board of Trustees have signed an optimistic interlocal agreement. Three school buildings designated surplus by the district in October— Armstrong Middle School, Davis Elementary School, and Forman Elementary School—will be discussed in this cooperation under possible sales and repurposing. According to Rockwall News, the agreement shows a shared commitment to protect local integrity and promote community growth.
The agreement calls for a cooperative structure whereby the City of Plano will choose an appraiser to fairly assess every piece of property, then there will be a negotiating time between the two agencies. Plano ISD has promised to demolish the current school buildings so that the sites are ready for future construction satisfying community demands.
In a statement sent to WFAA, Plano ISD Board President Nancy Humphrey highlighted the agreement’s importance.
“This agreement represents a significant step in our process of responsibly managing district resources. It ensures that these properties will continue to serve our community while upholding neighborhood integrity,” said Plano ISD Board President Nancy Humphrey in a statement. “We appreciate the City of Plano’s collaboration in this endeavor.”
