Ahead of Halloween night later this week, police are warning parents and their kids to practice safe trick-or-treating tendencies.

Kids may walk out into the streets, not be aware of their surroundings, wear dark clothing and more.
Millcreek police said those driving always need to pay close attention, especially so during the hours of 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Halloween night.

“If your kids are going out on their own, make sure that they have the ability and the phone numbers to contact an emergency contact if they need while they’re out on their own. For drivers, we obviously recommend that they take their time going through residential neighborhoods. There’s going to be increased pedestrian foot traffic, but we recommend they expect pedestrians out of areas they might not typically expect them,” said Benjamin Steiner, a patrolman with the Millcreek Police Department.
