And also getting into the Halloween spirit, another local fire department celebrated the holiday a little bit early.
Fairfield Hose Company on East Lake Road hosted their “Trunk or Treat” event Sunday afternoon, with kids showing up in costume to celebrate Halloween.
Several cars decorated their trunks behind the fire department, where trick-or-treaters went round and round collecting candy and cooking up s’mores.
Fire Chief Jim Hawrylaw said this is only the second year for their trunk or treat, and the event has only grown since then.
“It’s just a combination of everything, getting members down here to the club and helping out the fire department. It’s just something a lot of people are doing now, but we really enjoy it, and we’re really in the spirit as you can tell, a little Forrest Gump for the day. So, there’s a lot of kids here, everyone’s having a good time,” said Hawrylaw.
Chief Hawrylaw added that Sunday’s event was a great way to bring the community together and get in the Halloween spirit.
