A simple argument over a spilled cup of ice led to one man getting shot and killed at a Mississippi gas station.
On Oct. 25 at 7:20 p.m. the Adams County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about a man who was shot at the Shell Station in Washington located at 787 Highway 61 North. At the same time as the call a deputy one block away from the gas station was stopped by a passing driver and told that people were shooting at each other at the Shell station, police said.
When deputies arrived they found a suspect sitting by the gas pumps who was detained and seized a semi-automatic firearm. They also found a man who had been fatally shot lying on the floor inside the store.
The victim was later identified as James Keating, police said. According to Sheriff Patten the incident that led to Keating’s death was “a senseless act of violence that will forever change two families’ lives.”
