LONGWOOD, The Bronx (PIX11) – An 18-year-old was shot and killed in the Bronx on Monday night, according to the NYPD.
It happened outside a building on Rev. James Polite Avenue in Longwood around 7 p.m. Joshua Sparrow, 18, was pronounced dead at a local hospital after he was shot in the head and torso, police said.
Witnesses told police they saw multiple people fleeing the shooting, according to authorities. A shattered glass door could be seen at the entrance of the building.
At least five teenagers have been shot and killed in less than a week in New York City. Clarence Jones, 16, was shot and killed at West 124th Street and Lenox Avenue in Harlem last Thursday, police said.
A 15-year-old was then fatally shot in East Flatbush on Friday. A 16-year-old was also shot and killed Saturday in Fort Greene, according to authorities.
A 15-year-old was shot and killed in Crown Heights on Sunday, police said.
Police are still searching for suspects in all five shootings. No arrests have been made.
