The official high temperature forecast for the Twin Cities on Tuesday is a whopping 79 degrees. If it hits 80, it’ll be the second-latest 80-degree reading on record in the Twin Cities, with the latest ever happening on Halloween.
It won’t hit 80 this week on Halloween, but it might snow. In fact, snow is looking likely Wednesday night into Thursday morning somewhere in Minnesota and Wisconsin. It’s just a matter of where the flakes are falling.
According to the National Weather Service, there will be two areas of rain that move into the region on Wednesday. One area of rain will cover central and northern Minnesota while a heavier area of rain is expected across southeastern Minnesota, leaving the Twin Cities in middle zone, where less rain is expected.
Mixed precipitation and snow enter the conversation as the back side of the low pressure system pulls in cold air from Canada on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. That’s when accumulating snow becomes a possibility.
