El Paso voters turned out en masse for the first day of early voting , sparking enthusiasm among candidates and officials, but numbers flagged as the week progressed.
With around 102,000 ballots cast during the first week of the early voting session, which kicked off Monday, Oct. 21, this year’s numbers are slightly behind numbers seen during the last presidential election in 2020.

In that election, 225,146 ballots were cast during the early voting cycle, which began on Tuesday, Oct. 13, according to the El Paso County Elections Department website . A day-by-day breakdown shows daily numbers trailing numbers seen four years ago, with the occasional exception:
- Day 1: In 2024, a total of 23,678 ballots were cast compared to 34,118 in 2020;
- Day 2: In 2024, a total of 16,453 ballots were cast compared to 18,947 in 2020;
- Day 3: In 2024, a total of 15,979 ballots were cast compared to 17,571 in 2020;
- Day 4: In 2024, a total of 15,157 ballots were cast compared to 17,176 in 2020;
- Day 5: In 2024, 15,616 ballots were cast compared to 9,148 in 2020;
- Day 6: In 2024, 10,271 ballots were cast compared to 5,036 in 2020;
- Day 7: In 2024, 6,448 ballots were cast compared to 12,991 in 2020.
