Free Halloween candy X-rays, safety blinkers available

(WHTM) — Patient First is offering free candy X-rays this week in observance of the Halloween season.

All Patient First locations will offer free digital X-ray imaging of Halloween candy to allow trick-or-treaters to see what is inside their treats. Patient First wants to give parents additional peace of mind about their children’s candy by possibly detecting objects like metal or other solid substances.

You can bring your bag of candy to any Patient First Neighborhood Medical Center from October 27 through November 1 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. for a free X-ray screening.

Patient First is also offering free safety blinkers during October to keep kids safe after dark. These blinking lights can be attached to Halloween costumes to improve visibility, and no registration or medical care is required.

“It’s such a great way to have children come for a nonmedical related event to get them used to the process and X-ray in general so that hopefully will help to ease some anxiety when they would actually need a visit and require an X-ray,” said Rebekah Wickenheiser, a Physician’s Assistant at Patient First.
