$8M lawsuit filed against Suffolk Public Schools after girl was assaulted by another student

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — An $8 million lawsuit is being pursued against Suffolk Public School officials after a girl was assaulted at Turlington Woods School in May 2022, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit claims that a 14-year-old girl was assaulted after the teacher left the classroom, leaving the students unsupervised. The boy allegedly had a history of sexually harassing and assaulted girls at the Suffolk Public Schools.

The plaintiff’s lawsuit argues that the school shouldn’t have left the student unsupervised and didn’t protect the girl while she was under their care. The lawsuit includes the teacher and the principal.

10 On Your Side has reached out to the school for a comment, but has yet to hear back.
