The 2024 season for the Wisconsin football team has been a rollercoaster. They started slowly with unconvincing wins over Western Michigan and FCS opponent, South Dakota.
Then they were promptly dismantled at home by Alabama in a 42-10 blowout that also cost them their starting quarterback for the season followed by a blown first-half lead to USC that dropped them to 2-2.
The team looked dead in the water, especially with the difficulty of their schedule. But then they rattled off three-straight wins in very convincing fashion, outscoring Purdue, Rutgers, and Northwestern by more than 100 points combined.
Then came Saturday night, when the Wisconsin football team had a chance to pull out a signature win, the first under the Fickell era, when No. 3 Penn State came to Camp Randall. The Badgers played well in the first half and it looked like they may actually be able to pull off the upset, especially with the Nittany Lions losing their starting quarterback Drew Allar to injury.
But the offense stalled after the break and the defense could seem to contain backup QB Beau Pribula, who completed 11/13 passes for 85 yards and a touchdown while adding 28 yards on the ground as a dual-threat quarterback. The Badgers eventually fell 28-13, dropping their record to 5-3 on the season.
