SMYRNA – More than 50 Bayhealth team members participated in the “Kickin’ the Stigma Out of Mental Illness” kickball tournament on Oct. 20.
All proceeds from the event were donated to Mental Health Association (MHA).
“On October 20, the MHA held its second annual ‘Kickin’ the Stigma Out of Mental Illness,’ a kickball tournament led by our outstanding volunteers Marissa Bennici and Keely Arndt,” Mental Health Association’s Development Manager Roberta Fishgold said, in a release.
“We were blessed with the most beautiful autumn day, filled with sunshine, colorful leaves, enthusiasm and the aroma of Carl’s Gourmet Hots and Sandwiches.”
Ms. Fishgold added that the event raised more than $3,500 – three times more than the first event last year – to promote improved mental well-being for all individuals and their families in Delaware through education, support and advocacy.
The kickball tournament grew from 36 players last year to 106 this year.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that approximately one in five teens, and one in 25 adults in the U.S. are living with mental health conditions.
