A proposed 1,000-unit subdivision near the London area may bring a new master-planned development to Corpus Christi’s far Southside.
In city documents, the envisioned Mirabella Development is shown as a 300-acre neighborhood proposed to include a range of housing types — spanning from single-family homes to apartments — as well as about 23 acres of parks boasting recreational options such as pickleball courts.
Located southeast of London, the property would be south of Weber Road, said Arturo Marquez, economic development director, in a presentation before the City Council on Tuesday.
Under the proposal, full construction of the development — expected to reach a taxable value of as much as $467 million — would conclude by 2036, an agenda memo shows.
Developers are seeking to make the subdivision a public improvement district, a proposal that is scheduled to return to the council for a public hearing Dec. 3, according to city officials.
A public improvement district permits levying a special assessment on a designated geographic area to help finance “higher quality projects with better and more amenities that would have been constructed otherwise,” city documents state.
