FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Almost $87,000 has been allocated to repair a 96-year-old historic theater in Fresno, Councilmember Miguel Arias announced Tuesday.
Arias says the $86,900 grant from District 3’s infrastructure funds will support critical preservation efforts by providing Warnors Theater with roof repairs including recoating, debris removal, pressure washing, foam cutting, and reapplication of an acrylic paint top coat.
Officials say a prior visit to the theater revealed water seeping through the roof into a bucket, further highlighting the need for these upgrades.
The nearly 100-year-old theater serves as an epicenter for performing arts and films, but also a venue for construction workers, electricians, designers, and other tradespeople who use their skills for the arts and culture economy.
The city has also previously allocated funds for the rehabilitation of other local historical and cultural centers like the Water Tower, Hotel Fresno, Arte Américas, African-America Museum, Meux Home, and the Old Armenian Homes.
