Brown says he’d reject national abortion ban if elected to represent Nevada; Rosen cites his record

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Standing beside a sitting Republican senator who sponsored a national abortion ban after 15 weeks of pregnancy, Nevada Republican Senate candidate Sam Brown said if elected, he would vote against such a measure.

Brown, who is in a tight race against incumbent Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen, reiterated Tuesday that he supports the established Nevada law, which allows a woman to have an abortion up until 24 weeks of pregnancy or in the weeks after if a doctor determines her life is at risk.

Republican Montana Sen. Steve Daines, chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, campaigned with Brown and spoke to supporters Tuesday.

In 2022, Daines, founder of the Senate’s Pro-Life Caucus, co-sponsored a bill to limit abortion at the federal level to 15 weeks, except if the mother’s life is at risk or if the pregnancy was the result of rape or incest.
