The initiative will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania. A few members on the team helped bag customers’ groceries while spreading the word about the cause.
“I think it’s important for all of us no matter our means to be able to support our neighbors to be able to help out those who are less fortunate than us so even a dollar can feed three people at the food bank a can of corn or a nonperishable food item can go a long way,” said Shawn Bednard, director of communications for the Erie Otters.
The drive will take place on November 2 at Erie Insurance Arena as part of their pre-game.
