Local nonprofits collect coats ahead of holiday season

COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — This month, two local nonprofit organizations joined forces for one of the first coat drives of the season.

All About Fitness Family and new nonprofit Teaching Until Changed (T.O.U.C.E.D.) , began their drive in early October; it wraps Thursday, Oct. 31.

“Some kid’s going to be warm. Some kid’s going to have an extra layer of warmth,” said All About Fitness Founder Dewayne Webb.

Webb added his organization was excited to work with Teaching Until Changed, a new nonprofit in town, for the drive.

The organizations are collecting coats to fit children and teens of all ages and sizes. So far, they have reached their original goal of 50 coats donated.

Webb said they would be glad to surpass that goal and help even more local children in need.

The coats will be given away at the Troy University Fall Festival from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the school’s Phenix City campus on Oct 31 in a first-come, first served-style giveaway.

They will continue accepting donations through the end of the fall festival on location. Other drop off locations vary by day.
