Moist air moving over the Plains toward the Upper Great Lakes will bring thunderstorms to the Northern Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley. Severe thunderstorms, potentially packing frequent lightning, strong winds, and hail, are expected in the Middle Mississippi Valley to the Central Plains, where the Storm Prediction Center has issued a Marginal Risk of severe weather through Wednesday.
By Wednesday, a Slight Risk level of severe thunderstorms is forecasted for parts of the Mississippi Valley and the Central Plains, with a few tornadoes possible. Heavy rainfall along the front could cause localized flash flooding in areas of rapid runoff, with a Marginal Risk for excessive rain in these regions through Thursday morning.
