If you are a Floridian, you know that it’s not unusual for Florida shopping centers to change hands. I’ve written frequently lately about Publix buying out its landlords in shopping centers in Florida cities like Coral Springs, Davie, and Kissimmee. However, a more unusual happening has arguably occurred. A Casselberry shopping center has changed hands, but part of it is reportedly going to become a BJ’s Wholesale Club.
About The Shopping Center In Question: Casselberry Exchange is located at 5803 S. U.S. Highway 17-92 and near Chick-fil-A and City Buffet.
The shopping center was once anchored by a Staples and Bed, Bath & Beyond. But since both have closed, it is now somewhat vacant of large retailers and restaurants.
The Sale And The BJ’s That Is Planned: In mid-October of 2024, New York-based RD Management LLC bought the Casselberry Exchange for $13 million.
On the same day of the sale, RD Management sold some of the land to BJ’s Wholesale Inc. for $10 million.
Michael Carroll, co-CEO of RD Management, confirmed to the Orlando Business Journal that BJ’s would be a new anchor and that the former Staples would get a complete teardown.
