EUGENE, Ore.– The Lane Transit District and the Eugene Airport got large financial grants from the federal government worth several dollars each. LTD is got an estimated $5.2 million to fund a new “Mobility on Demand” pilot program for three years. The program will enable individuals in need of a ride to request an LTD pick up similar to car service apps like Uber and Lyft. The focus will be on the residents and students living in the Bethel School District boundary on the outskirts of Eugene. Dave Roth is the Director of Mobility Planning & Policy for LTD who is overseeing the new program. Roth said they are focusing on ensuring that students and others living out in these areas are able to have another form of transportation.
