NEW YORK (PIX11) – Some affordable housing lotteries in New York City offer qualified applicants no rent at all, according to the Housing Connect website .
The affordable housing website lists two properties. One building in the Bronx offers no rent, but applicants are responsible for utilities. The other building in Brooklyn provides 39 units, 18 of which have been set aside for formerly homeless individuals.
Brooklyn: Bedford Green House II

“All studio and 1-bedroom units are set aside for senior households,” the affordable housing lottery listing states. “A Senior is defined as a household with at least one household member who is 62 years of age or older at the time of the application.”
To qualify for $0 rent, the applicant will make no more than $83,880. The maximum rent for these units is $1,581 . Amenities include air conditioning, a gym, a doorman, and a security guard.
