According to a news release from the Alabama State Board of Medical Examiners, a hearing is scheduled for Dec. 18 to determine whether Dr. Shaknovsky’s medical license should be revoked.

Dr. Shaknovsky was licensed in Alabama in 2016. He is accused of removing a patient’s liver instead of the spleen during what was supposed to be a splenectomy. This resulted in the patient’s death.

The Alabama Medical Licensure Commission suspended Dr. Shakvnosky’s license, saying he “may constitute an immediate danger to his patients and the public.”

The Alabama Board of Medical Examiners filed a complaint against Dr. Shaknovsky, which initiated the suspension and prompted the commission’s decision.
