LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Convenience store chain 7-Eleven plans to close 444 underperforming stores across the country. Las Vegas, the city with the most 7-Elevens in the country, has already seen a couple of closures.
It may be ‘see you later, Slurpee’ at your convenience store. Locations like one on Sahara Ave and Jones Blvd display a sign saying the store is permanently closed.
In their presentation for the second quarter of the 2024 fiscal year, 7-Eleven’s Japanese-based ownership company, 7 and i holdings announced they’ll close the stores.
It cites issues like inflation keeping customers from spending, fewer people going to stores, and plummeting cigarette sales.
Another boarded-up location is the one on Twain Ave and University Center Dr. Near where Devin Brown sets up his ministry.
“It’s something that to really make you think and to wonder, you know, about the economy and the things that are going on and make you kind of kind of stand still and take notice of the situation that we’re really in,” Brown said
