FRANKFORT, KENTUCKY (WOWK) – Kentucky’s Office of Medical Cannabis will be holding a second lottery on Thursday to announce the next step in widespread access to medical cannabis throughout the state. This time, officials will be sharing specific dispensers that are approved to sell to patients in Kentucky.
This follows Monday’s lottery, where 26 new medical cannabis businesses and their names were announced. Those 26 medical cannabis processors and cultivators will be establishing themselves across 15 different counties across the state.
Those 15 counties all have approved medical cannabis businesses growing and processing cannabis themselves in said counties, just like Boyd County. Of the 26 cultivators and processors, both L&O Legacies and Bijal Kentucky LLC will be setting up in Boyd County.
Boyd County Alcohol Administrator, Michelle Culp, who also oversees medical cannabis, said it is unknown where the two Boyd County businesses will be located.
“For Boyd County, we have two cities. One city opted no, and then one city opted in,” Culp said. However, the entire county chose to opt in to receiving these cannabis facilities.
