INDIANAPOLIS — A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed over the weekend at a park on Indy’s near southeast side.
David Tipton-Blunk, 16, of Indianapolis, was arrested on Sunday after IMPD officers were called to Sandorf Park on Dawson Street for a stabbing. He was then booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on a $100,000 surety bond and charged with felony attempted murder.
The charge stems from an Oct. 27 incident in which a woman was stabbed twice in the head with a knife while walking through Sandorf Park. The woman is still recovering after her head was stapled shut.
IMPD crews were called around 5:30 p.m. to 2020 Dawson Street after a woman reported being stabbed by a teenager wearing a blue hoodie who’d fled southbound on State Avenue. While en route, dispatch received a call from a man saying his 16-year-old son was the stabbing suspect.
The father told police that he and his son were standing near a liquor store just south of Sandorf Park on E. Raymond Street. He also told 911 that his son was experiencing a mental/emotional breakdown.
