TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A woman was arrested after deputies said she assaulted and spat on two Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority employees because the bus was full and she wasn’t able to board.
Tamara West, 36, tried to board a bus Tuesday along North 27th Street. One employee told the bus to continue because it was at capacity, deputies said.
West, upset that she couldn’t get on the bus, allegedly hit both employees in the face and spat on both of them, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
“Violence against our public service workers is unacceptable,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “They deserve to work in a safe and respectful environment. We are committed to protecting those who serve our community and will hold accountable anyone who threatens their well-being.”
West was arrested and charged with burglary of conveyance with assault or battery, battery on public transit employee and battery on a licensed security officer, deputies said.
