After almost four years, the director of Fort Myers’ Alliance for the Arts is leaving to go back north.
Molly Rowan-Deckart has taken a new job as CEO of the nonprofit Marquee Arts in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The Alliance announced the news Monday. Rowan-Deckart will work until Dec. 15, according to the news release.
“Molly has been a visionary leader for the Alliance, guiding the organization through unprecedented times while keeping our mission and values at the forefront of everything we do…” Alliance board chair Jarrett Eady said in the release.
“We are deeply grateful for her leadership and dedication to making the arts a vibrant part of our community, and we wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”
Rowan-Deckart lead the Alliance’s recovery efforts after Hurricane Ian, expanded its arts-education programs, opened the new Art House Cinema in its Foulds Theatre and rallied to raise funds for the organization after Gov. Ron DeSantis slashed all state arts grants earlier this year . She also helped plan the Alliance’s 50th-anniversary celebrations next year.
