Tim Walz to make campaign visit in Erie on Halloween

Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz will be in Erie on Thursday for a campaign visit, but tomorrow is also Halloween and it’s pulling police in several directions.

Erie police said despite a visit from Walz, there will still be increased police presence throughout the city on Halloween night to help protect families while they’re trick-or-treating.

And even with those units out in the streets, police representatives said they have plenty of officers with Walz to keep him safe.

“We really tried to not thin out, or remove anything from normal patrol for this visit. We’re trying to staff the visit as best as we can at this time. Obviously, on Halloween it’s a difficult time to staff, but we’ll be ready. We’ll have a massive presence and help from all of our partners,” said Rick Lorah, deputy chief of the Erie Police Department.

Trick-or-treating will take place in the City of Erie from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
