HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — Multiple Daviess County agencies warn the public about numerous scam calls made throughout the county.
Earlier in October, the Daviess County Attorney’s Office warned locals on social media about a scam caller identifying themselves as County Attorney John Burlew. They say the caller will claim a warrant is out for the victim’s arrest.
Last week, the Owensboro Police Department warned locals of scam callers telling people they missed jury duty and have been fined a “large amount of money.” It is said the police department’s number will appear on the caller ID and the scammers allegedly used officer’s names.
On Tuesday, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and the County Circuit Clerk say they have received a number of calls from locals “demanding” their money back for missing jury duty .
The Office of the Daviess County Circuit Clerk says judges do not issue warrants for missing jury duty nor will the office demand paying a fine.
DCSO is advising those who receive calls such as this to call Central Dispatch.
