PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Election Day is considered a state holiday in Virginia. This means city offices are expected to be closed.

Chesapeake
All city of Chesapeake offices, courts, community centers, libraries, and Animal Services will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 5, for Election Day. The Chesapeake Visitor Center will be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be no changes to trash collection schedules.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. Voters must vote at their assigned precinct, which can be found here. Don’t forget to bring a valid ID. For more information on voting in Chesapeake visit www.CityOfChesapeake.net/Vote or call the Voter Registrar’s Office at 757-382-8000.
Normal operating schedules will resume on Wednesday, Nov. 6. Residents who need more information should call the Customer Contact Center at 382-CITY (2489) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays or log on to CityOfChesapeake.net 24 hours a day.
