The night of the murder, prosecutors believe the two men were driving around Providence “looking for revenge” after Mann’s younger brother was shot and killed by a rival gang.

Pinkerton opened fire on the couple believing that her boyfriend was responsible for the death of Mann’s brother, according to prosecutors. Robinson testified during Pinkerton’s trial that he has never been in a gang and the men targeted for the wrong person.
