Heavy Frost & Freeze Expected Overnight in Parts of Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas
10/31/24 7:44am ET
Good morning everyone. We have a long line of heavy showers & thunderstorms stretching from Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, down into Texas this morning. Our morning rumbles and heavy rain are courtesy of low pressure that brought severe thunderstorms to parts of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri yesterday evening.
As forecasted, that line of severe weather has expanded and stretched to encompass an area from Lake Michigan all the way down to Waco, TX. While we don’t see any organzied severe weather at this time, we do have embedded heavier action within this line.
Areas such as western Kentucky, western Tennessee, and northwest Mississippi, will get into the action with heavy showers and thunderstorms over the next severeal hours. Heavy rain will be falling in areas that need it badly due to some drought conditions.
However, too much too soon could cause some flooding issues due to the dry soil’s inability to absorb it fast enough. We’ll also have locally strong winds, frequent lightning, and small hail to deal with up and down this line. We could also see some strong to locally severe weather in northeast Texas and upper Louisiana.
