From 1830s house to a modern ‘barndominium’: Waterford holiday homes tour offers variety

WATERFORD — The Fort LeBoeuf Historical Society will host a holiday homes tour Nov. 15-17.

The “Storybook Christmas in Waterford” event will feature seven homes decorated for the holidays.

The event also will include pop-up shops and a Candlelight Christmas VIP Bites & Beverages evening tour offering finger foods, mocktails, signature cocktail and appetizers.

The homes

Homes on the tour range from a brand new “barndominium” to a stately home that once was an Underground Railroad stop.

The barndominium, at 776 Cherry St., is in the architectural style begun with simple metal buildings housing both work and living spaces.

“This one is an open concept home done in a very farmhouse style, as is typical for a barndominium,” said Joanne Lenart-Weary, who is coordinating the homes tour for the historical society. “It’s a building that everyone in town has been watching.”

Locals have long been curious about another house on the tour, Lenart-Weary said. The stone home with turret is at 236 E. 2nd St.
