An 18-year-old man will be charged with murder after his mother’s body was found in a field in San Tan Valley.
On Wednesday, a jogger came across the body of a woman that has since been identified as 38-year-old Mary Collier in a farm field west of Gantzel Road and south of Skyline Drive, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office reported.
PCSO stated that the jogger called 911 and less than 10 minutes later a second 911 call came in regarding a kidnapping in the 700 block of West Vineyard Plains Drive.
“Deputies were quickly able to confirm the deceased female was also the alleged kidnapped person,” PCSO stated.
Deputies determined that Collier’s son had placed the second 911 call and identified him as the suspect in the women’s death, according to PCSO. The suspect’s name has not been released.
The suspect had self-inflicted wounds when deputies arrived at the scene, and he was taken to the hospital.
“He will be booked into the Pinal County Jail for first degree murder upon his release from the hospital,” PCSO stated.
