It’s been a pretty steep decline for Giants cornerback Deonte Banks, the team’s first-round pick from the 2023 draft. After a solid rookie season, his sophomore year has been something of a disaster, both statistically and according to the old-fashioned eye test.
With the Nov. 5 trade deadline approaching and with the Giants mired at 2-6, the time could be ripe for the Big Blue to cut bait with Banks before it’s too late.
And with that in mind, Athlon’s own Doug Farrar has a trade idea for the Giants to pull off, together in a seldom-seen NFC East trade with the Commanders, sending out banks but bringing in another first-round DB in return.
Writing in an article titled, “5 Trades That Need to Happen Before the November 5 Deadline,” Farrar puts forth the following :
“I’m proposing a rare in-division trade that lands Banks with Dan Quinn’s Washington Commanders . In return, Big Blue gets Emmanuel Forbes, another 2023 first-round cornerback who has not lived up to expectations. Forbes might be a more lithe, lanky defender in off coverage, and based on his recent history as the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator, Quinn probably wants to call more press coverage than his personnel will currently allow.
