Governor Holcomb welcomes new First Dog, Oliver

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb and First Lady of Indiana Janet Holcomb welcomed a furry new member into their family on Thursday: First Dog, Oliver.

“Hello I am Oliver Holcomb, but my mom and dad call me Ollie,” the dog “wrote” in a post to X . “I’m still pretty new to this ‘bark to text’ technology, and I am a little nervous because I know I have big paws to fill.”

Oliver fills in for First Dog after the Holcombs’ previous dog, Henry, passed last December .

However, the Holcombs do not want to think of Oliver as a “replacement” for Henry. “Henry’s exuberance for life will be missed, and his place in our hearts never replaced,” Eric Holcomb wrote in an X post last year.
