TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — With Election Day right around the corner, you’ll find three candidates vying for Governor in the state of Indiana.
On the ballot this election is Republican Senator Mike Braun , Democrat Jennifer McCormick , and Libertarian Donald Rainwater .
The state’s education system has been a rising questions for all campaigns.
Democratic Candidate Jennifer McCormick has called for a raise in teacher’s pay, and states Indiana needs to improve the curriculum for all students.
“I am a firm believer in kids do better with rigor and they do better with a well-rounded education,” said McCormick. “We have to get the education piece right because we need a healthy and educate workforce and a healthy and educated consumer. Part of that is making sure that our kids are prepared for whatever they choose to do, and have transferable skills.
If elected, Sen. Mike Braun says transparency is key within Indiana’s education system.
“We have to have a lot of transparency,” said Braun. “We give honest information to parents and kids. These are vital decisions. What do (they) want to plan for?”
