Most voters feel election anxiety is on the rise

INDIANAPOLIS — Whether it’s nervousness, excitement, or even frustration, one thing is clear: most Americans across the board are feeling heightened emotions and more emotional stress this election cycle.

A new AP poll shows 69 percent of American voters are more anxious about the 2024 presidential election — compared to 65 percent of voters in 2020.

”More nervous than anything,” voter Mark Tomlinson said. ”Worried about the future.”

“I want it to turn out the way I’d like it to turn out,” voter Julie Hanna-Stewart said.

”I think the nerves, I mean, they’re always there for every election, you know,” voter Kevin Countryman said. “You always want your candidate to win, but you never know what’s going to happen.”

”People are mean towards each other, people are talking about each other, and I just think that we need a change,” voter Sherri Garrison said.

The poll also shows 36 percent of Americans feel excited about the presidential election, up from 30 percent in 2020.

”This is definitely an important election this year,” voter Blanche Brown said.
