The Erie Humane Society got into the Halloween spirit on Thursday by having a shelter pet costume parade.

Right now, the humane society has more than 40 adoptable dogs.

Volunteers and staff members decided to dress up those dogs available for adoption in costume to showcase their adoptability.

It’s the first year the humane society has put this costume parade on.

“Adoptions across the nation are pretty low right now, and we think that has a lot to do with the economy. So if you are looking for a forever friend and a great companion for your family, definitely look at rescuing and consider adopting from the Erie Humane Society,” said Nicole Leone, executive director of the Erie Humane Society.

On Friday and Saturday, the humane society is doing a half-off deal on adoptions for approved families.

And from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, families can participate in activities throughout the shelter.
