A local dentist’s office is taking the time to honor those who have served this weekend.
North East Dental Arts — 90 E Main St. in North East — is holding “Freedom Day USA” on Saturday, Nov. 2.
The office will offer free teeth cleaning, filling or extractions to veterans 18 years or older, active military and their families.
The owner said 90 percent of veterans are ineligible for dental benefits and this is a way for them to give back.
“It’s amazing what you can tell from somebody oral healthcare and when there’s a lack of oral health care it affects the ears and all the organs, blood pressure, diabetes there are just so many things that are involved with having a healthy mouth and when somebody doesn’t have access to care or isn’t able to take off their teeth, it really affects their whole body,” said Dr. Dina Nuhfer, dentist & owner of North East Dental Arts.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. and they will take the first 50 people.
