Charleston Waterkeeper sees record-high bacteria in seasonal testing

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCSC) – Charleston Waterkeeper has spent more than a decade testing bacteria levels in the waterways to protect families from illness. Executive director and waterkeeper for Charleston Waterkeeper Andrew Wunderley says bacteria levels are on this rise. This year’s average bacteria levels exceeded last year’s by 40% while also being 7% higher than the organization’s historical sampling average.
