New details released about Upstate child left alone in bathtub

GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – The cause and manner of death of an infant that died in July has been released Friday morning.

An autopsy performed by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office showed the cause of death of 8-month-old Zander Lawson was determined to be complications of near drowning.

The manner of death was ruled to be an accident, the coroner said.

7NEWS previously reported on June 20 that Lawson was found unresponsive in a bathtub where he was reportedly unattended for an extended time at home on Old Hunts Bridge Road.

Lawson died on life support on July 27.

Zander’s mother, 28-year-old Lynda Lawson, and her boyfriend 26-year-old Robert Eugene Bull, Jr. were initially charged with unlawful conduct towards a child and were denied bond.

The death remains under investigation by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
