Nashville concert to benefit Helene survivors

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A special concert will be held this weekend in Nashville to benefit Hurricane Helene victims in East Tennessee and North Carolina. The show will be held at the Listening Room Cafe on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m.

There will be singers and songwriters like Liz Rose, who has written songs for many artists including Taylor Swift. Other performers include Colbie Caillat, Phil Barton and Chrissy Metz from “This is Us.”

All the money raised will go to the Beacon Rescue, which is a non-profit doing work to help people rebuild and recover from the hurricane.

Jamie Duncan, the co-owner, BUILD Nashville has family in Florida and they lost a lot of property, so she was there helping with recovery and fundraising efforts. But then she saw what happened in East Tennessee and North Carolina and knew her work was not done.

“I have had an overwhelming repetitive voice, if you want to call it, in the back of my head saying ‘If you can, you should,” remembered Duncan. “It’s almost like it was on repeat. I can’t ignore it, I can’t not do something about it. I physically am not going to be able go to North Carolina and build homes, but we have one of our team members going for the second time on Friday and taking some supplies,” she said.
