Venvi Art Gallery presents “Locales: North Florida’s Plein Air Landscapes” featuring oil paintings by local artist Nan Liu. This exhibition will showcase over 30 of his original paintings and will be on display from Nov. 1 to Jan. 19, 2025. The opening reception will be held from 5-8 p.m. Nov. 1.
Locales: North Florida’s Plein Air Landscapes will feature 30 oil paintings by Nan Liu that reflect his experiences in Tallahassee. Locales: North Florida’s Plein Air Landscapes seeks to express the joyous sensations Liu feels from the natural world, especially in the many undisturbed and undestroyed locales.
Liu enjoys the rich natural beauty of the lakes, gardens and national parks. The beauty found in the lakes, gardens and national parks Liu paints show the value and diverse beauty that is around us. This beauty is expressed through the landscape paintings in a way that inspires the viewer to feel reawakened and cherish the natural, undisturbed landscape.
Liu works primarily in oil paint. Liu’s passion for art began at a young age, with him studying Chinese Brush painting and calligraphy in Tianjin, China, with his primary influence being contemporary painter Fan Zeng. The overall theme within his works is nature and its presence. Liu’s work showcases the cross-cultural perspective of contemporary America.
