NPD investigating possible student overdose

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk Police are investigating what they say is a possible student overdose at Norview Middle School Wednesday, with charges pending the final outcome of an investigation.

Norfolk Police said they were called to Norview Middle, at 6325 Sewells Point Road, around 11 a.m. Wednesday for the report of a possible overdose. It was reported to police, according to NPD, that two students were believed to be suffering from symptoms related to an overdose.

One of those students was taken to Children’s Hospital for the King’s Daughters to get medical treatment, Norfolk Police said.

However, Norfolk Public Schools said there were no student overdoses reported within the school division Wednesday, and said a student was having an asthma attack, not an overdose.

Investigators on Thursday were still investigating the incident as an overdose, Norfolk Police said.
