Following a preliminary 2.9 magnitude earthquake near Pasadena, a small tremor was detected Thursday afternoon in the San Gabriel Valley and northeast Los Angeles. According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred at a depth of around 6.4 miles at 4:04 p.m., less than two miles southwest of Pasadena in Alhambra.
