St. Vincent de Paul of Sonoma County seems to thriving in their shift to providing housing to homeless folks. The Press Democrat reports that since 2020, St. Vincent has operated in the black and has doubled their revenue to $5.9 million in 2022. Much of that comes from local contracts as well as grants from the state. The biggest success is The Commons on Mendocino Avenue in Santa Rosa which has 49 tenants, all of which are people with extremely low income, making no more than 30-percent of area median income. St. Vincent hopes to open the 22-unit Gravenstein Commons by the Spring of 2025 in Sebastopol.
