WESTLAKE , Ohio (WJW) — Investigators said what started as a carjacking outside a Cleveland restaurant by a gunman posing as an employee led to a high-speed chase and crash, and ended with the arrest of the suspect and his alleged accomplice by Westlake police.
Body-worn camera video obtained by FOX 8 News shows the terrified victim providing officers with details of the chilling crime committed early Wednesday morning outside a Taco Bell on Lorain Avenue near West 108th Street.

“One of the guys came up to her and started talking about her tire, which he said was going flat,” said Westlake police Capt. Gerald Vogel. “So as she’s looking at this tire and listening to this guy, who said he was a Taco Bell employee, the other guy came and stuck a gun in her face. They both jumped in the car and took off.”
Cleveland police were able to track down the black Cadillac taken by the carjackers and began a high-speed pursuit westbound on Interstate 90, but had to call it off. On dispatch recordings obtained by FOX 8 News, a Cleveland dispatcher is heard telling her Westlake counterpart, “hey, we were just in pursuit of an [aggravated robbery] car. It’s a 2014 black Cadillac SRX. We terminated at 90 West passing Hilliard.”
