The Boston Celtics are finally back to their winning ways after crushing the Charlotte Hornets Saturday night, 124-109. However, things got a little chippy toward the end of the contest, with two flagrant fouls slapped on Hornets players Grant Williams and LaMelo Ball.
Celtics star Jayson Tatum was involved on both occasions, as he was on the receiving end of those flagrant fouls. But while Ball’s foul was seemingly an unintentional bad closeout on a Tatum three-point attempt, it was a different story when it came to Williams’ violation.
In the eyes of Celtics forward Jaylen Brown, Williams’ open-court hit on Tatum was “for sure intentional,” per Bobby Manning of Celtics on CLNS .
“He hit him like a football play, like Ray Lewis coming across the middle,” Brown added.
Brown, who scored 25 points in the Hornets game, made his stance clear on such moves on the basketball court, saying that “there’s no place in the game for that [Williams’ foul],” (h/t Savage ).
