Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert was not pleased after he got dunked on during Friday’s game against the Denver Nuggets, so much so that the big man had a heated reaction.
Midway through the final quarter of the game at Target Center, Nuggets wing Christian Braun drove to the basket and threw down a vicious two-handed dunk all over Gobert.
As Braun flexed and celebrated his highlight play, he got in front of Gobert. The Timberwolves star seemingly took offense at the dunk and the taunting that followed, prompting him to hit Braun in the neck and shove him sideways.
Russell Westbrook quickly came to Braun’s defense and confronted Gobert. Other Nuggets players followed suit. But fortunately, the referees, some players and team staff were able to stop it before things escalated further.
Both Rudy Gobert and Christian Braun were assessed a technical foul after the heated moment. No one was ejected from the game despite the altercation, however.
Interestingly, Gobert’s actions came just minutes after he was assessed a Flagrant 1 for elbowing Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic to the face. With eight minutes remaining in the contest, the Frenchman had his Serbian counterpart falling to the ground while trying to score under the basket.
