Iberia Parish sheriff: Arrest made in Thursday home invasions, stabbings

IBERIA PARISH, La. ( KLFY ) — A 47-year-old Lafayette man is recovering from a gunshot wound and is facing charges in connection with two stabbings that occurred at different homes Halloween evening, authorities said.

Casey Meaux is facing two counts of home invasion and two counts of attempted first-degree murder, according to the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office . A mugshot was not available of Meaux on Friday due to him being in hospital care, the sheriff’s office said.

According to a news release, the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office went to the 4900 and 5000 block of Dolphin Street around 6 p.m. in response to reports of home invasion and stabbings.

One victim was stabbed at each house. The sheriff’s office said that Meaux was shot in the chest by the homeowner of the second house during the alleged invasion.

The victims and Meaux were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

The sheriff’s office said additional charges are possible. The investigation remains ongoing.
